Trauma Informed Schools and Communities UK (TISCUK) CIC (trauma-informed.uk) is an international training provider, working to date with over 6000 organisations. They support schools, community organisations and workplaces to create trauma-informed, mentally healthy communities where people feel safe, valued and understood. TISCUK are committed to supporting the most vulnerable young people by empowering key adults to respond effectively to mental health problems and behaviours that challenge.

About Trauma Informed Schools and Communities UK.

TISCUK training is underpinned by evidence-based research which shows that, if not helped, children and young people who’ve suffered traumatic life experiences are at major risk of suffering from mental and physical ill-health and/or engaging in violence and crime. Their training combines underpinning neuroscience with teaching practical skills so adults can recognise and respond to the impact of adversity, trauma, social injustice and economic hardship in young people. Relationships have the power to both harm and heal, and safe, consistent relationships are central to recovery, belonging and wellbeing. Through a range of different trainings for senior leaders, practitioners and whole staff teams, TISCUK promotes a relational approach where behaviour is considered a form of communication, and distress is met with understanding rather than punishment.

TISCUK was established in response to a growing need for specialist training for staff working in schools. Over time, its training provision has expanded to support a much wider range of professionals and communities, including those who do not work directly with young people. The organisation was founded by Dr Margot Sunderland D. Psych, D.Litt (Hon) M.A, B.Ed, Dip GPTI who is an eminent child psychologist, psychotherapist and neuroscience expert. Dr Sunderland is also a highly acclaimed award-winning author of over twenty books in the field of child mental health which collectively have been translated into 18 languages and published in 24 countries.

TISCUK’s training programme seeks to address inequalities and social injustices but social value also underpins the organisation’s internal processes. The TISCUK training team has extensive experience in education and/or therapeutic work and is supported by a central office team and operational directors. Wellbeing of the workforce is of the utmost importance; all staff and trainers are able to access 1:1 sessions with a senior psychotherapist and have access to reflective supervision and wellbeing check-ins. TISCUK are also committed to supporting communities outside of their core training offer including voluntary work; they welcome proposals from the wider community to support social projects.

The Network.

The transformacy Social Value Network is a growing community of organisations — social enterprises, charities, training providers, community groups and purpose-led businesses — each delivering genuine social value in their field and their region.

Think of it as a trusted pool of partners. When organisations make social value commitments — through a Public Sector tender, a Section 106 agreement, or their own strategy — they need credible partners to help deliver them on the ground. The network exists to connect that need with the organisations best placed to meet it.

Every member is chosen for the quality and authenticity of the social value they create, so the network stays something people can genuinely rely on — a shortcut to trusted, capable partners rather than an open directory. Each member has a profile setting out what they do, who they serve and where they operate, and displays the transformacy Social Value Network member badge as a mark of their place in the community.
