Introduction: Walking the Walk
At transformacy, we have always believed that sustainability consulting should be grounded in credibility, experience and accountability. For us, it’s not enough to advise organisations on best practice; we believe in living and demonstrating those same standards within our own business and in our day-to-day.
As a sustainability consultancy, we challenge our clients to embed ESG principles into decision-making, strengthen governance, measure impact, and continuously improve. This time, we turned around and asked ourselves a simple question:
Could we meet the same rigorous expectations we set for our clients?
To answer that question, we undertook our EcoVadis Reassessment and held ourselves accountable to one of the world’s most recognised sustainability management systems.

Our Approach
As a certified B Corp, sustainability is core to everything we do. Our journey to EcoVadis Platinum focused on strengthening those commitments, measuring our performance, and continuously improving the way we operate.
Our approach centred on four key principles:
-
Turning Practice into Evidence. Sustainability should not live in policies alone; it must be embedded into day-to-day operations. We worked with our team to review existing policies, procedures, and ways of working to ensure they accurately reflect how decisions are made across the business. This enabled us to build a credible and evidence-based sustainability framework and ensured every claim is backed by clear documentation and data.
-
Strengthening Governance and Accountability. Strong sustainability performance requires ownership. As a growing consultancy, our team members wear multiple hats and contribute across different areas of the business. While this flexibility is one of our strengths, it also highlighted the importance of clearly defined responsibilities and decision-making processes. By assigning ownership for key topics across our leadership and establishing clear objectives and KPIs, we’re able to embed sustainability considerations into business planning and day-to-day.
-
Engaging the Entire Team. Sustainability is most effective when it’s part of the culture. Whether it’s client delivery, employee wellbeing, or learning and development, we’re constantly engaging our team members in an open dialogue on how we can innovate as an organisation. By creating space for continuous learning, sustainability became something everyone can actively participate in rather than a standalone initiative managed behind-the-scenes.
-
Building a Data-Driven Reporting Framework. To drive meaningful improvement, organisations need reliable data and accountability. We developed a more structured sustainability reporting system to capture, monitor, and evaluate our performance across our key ESG priorities. This included defining meaningful metrics, assigning reporting responsibilities, and tracking progress against established objectives and KPIs.
The Results
Our efforts were recognised with an EcoVadis Platinum Medal, the highest level of EcoVadis recognition. We may still be an early-stage business, but we’re already recognised as being in the top 1% of all companies assessed by EcoVadis in the last 12 months!
Combined with our status as a Certified B Corporation, this achievement provides independent validation of our commitment to responsible business and sustainability excellence.

A Message from Our Founder
"Putting ourselves through the same process we guide our clients through was a slightly nerve-wracking prospect. It's one thing to know the methodology inside out; it's another to hold your own business up to it and see what the evidence actually says.
But that was exactly the point. I don't believe you can credibly help a company reach for the highest standard in sustainability if you haven't been willing to meet it yourself first. So the bar we set for this couldn't be 'good enough' — it had to be the highest one in the room.
Reaching Platinum, and landing in the top 1% of all companies assessed globally, is something I'm enormously proud of. Every policy, every action, every result we ask our clients to evidence, we've now evidenced in our own house. That matters to me. It means that when we sit down with a client, we're not pointing at a destination we've only read about — we walk that walk ourselves.
None of this happened by accident, and none of it happened alone. It's the product of a team that genuinely cares about getting the detail right, and who believed that our own standards should be the ones we're proudest of.
We're still a relatively young business, and in many ways this feels far more like a beginning than a finish line. Platinum is the standard now and honestly, I couldn't be more excited to keep pushing, keep improving, and keep raising the bar even higher from here." - Charlie Trietline, Founder
Inspiration
transformacy's journey to Platinum demonstrates how a consultancy can turn its own operations into the strongest possible proof of what it advocates. Reaching the highest tier of EcoVadis recognition — and ranking in the top 1% of companies assessed globally — reflects both the maturity of the firm's day-to-day practices and its commitment to being measured by the same rigorous standards it applies to clients. With that recognition now secured alongside its B Corp certification, transformacy is well positioned to guide organisations through their own sustainability journeys from a place of genuine, evidenced authority.
