What is a good EcoVadis score?

There is no fixed "good" score, as medals are awarded by percentile rank rather than set thresholds. A Bronze medal places a company in the top 35% of those assessed, Silver in the top 15%, Gold in the top 5% and Platinum in the top 1%. The score required changes as the assessed population improves.

How do I get an EcoVadis Gold medal?

A Gold medal requires a score in the top 5% of companies assessed. This typically means formal policies, measurable actions and reported results across all four themes, supported by recognised certifications or external reporting, such as ISO standards or a GRI-aligned sustainability report.

How do I improve my EcoVadis score from Bronze to Silver?

Start with your scorecard's improvement areas. The largest gains usually come from filling policy gaps, providing evidence of implemented actions rather than commitments, and reporting quantified results such as emissions or training data. Prioritise the themes with the highest weighting for your industry.

What documents do I need for an EcoVadis assessment?

EcoVadis looks for evidence of policies, actions and results. Typical documents include environmental, labour, ethics and procurement policies; codes of conduct; supplier codes; certifications such as ISO 14001 or ISO 45001; training records; and a sustainability report or KPI data. Every document must be current and company-specific.

Is EcoVadis a certification?

Strictly, EcoVadis is a sustainability rating rather than a certification. Companies receive a score out of 100 and, if they rank highly enough, a medal. It is widely called EcoVadis certification because customers use it as a supplier requirement.

How long does an EcoVadis assessment take?

Most organisations can prepare and submit within a couple of months, depending on their starting point, and EcoVadis typically publishes the scorecard several weeks after submission. We have supported clients to achieve a rating in less than a month where a customer deadline required it.
